I’m excited and grateful to be back at Bible Study on Tuesday mornings at First Baptist Church of Elk Grove- doing the Beth Moore study- “James: Mercy Triumphs”  One of the things we are challenged to do is write out the entire Book of James- and memorize it!

So here I go.  It’s a small start, but it’s a start: – James 1-5

BethMooreJamesStudy Beth Moores Bible Study James:Mercy Triumphs Post #1

“ James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to all the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings.
Consider it pure joy whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

I’m not asking for anymore trials right now, though I have been blessed (even to the point of Joy) as I’ve faced many trials.  I am looking ahead with great expectation as I continue to persevere that I will (and my calling) will become more and more mature…and I’m sure through more trials someday (hopefully a day far into the future) then I,  and my faith and my calling,  will become complete.

Bring it on!

Interesting stuff I’m learning:

Jesus had a minimum of 6 half siblings (brothers and sisters born to Mary and Joseph) Matthew 13:55-56 and while growing up with him they (even James who would later become a “Pillar” of the early Christian church Gal 2:9 ) did NOT believe Jesus was The Christ, God’s son.  John 7:5

A Tidbit Worth Noting:

Among many other things about James, half-brother of Jesus, today we learned that the word  “Greetings” that James used in his salutation in Greek is “chairein” and is translated, “Joy to You.”

So “Greetings “to you!

And remember that joy is our birthright in Christ.
